I had two headlights changed without an appointment. They were able to get me right in which was great. After taking a quick look at our bulbs, I was told we have the "affordable ones" that are only $21 a bulb. I decided to replace both at the same time so thats $42 for parts. 20 minutes later, my car was done and I was given a total of $165.43. I asked why so expensive and was told "labor and taxes". Shocked I looked at my watch and said I was only here for 20 minutes. How much is labor? "The system recommends .7 hours of labor for changing headlights." So Honest -1 Auto Care charged me for .7 hours of labor for a .2 hour job. I'm not kidding or exaggerating. It was so matter of fact, like thats normal to over charge for labor... 3x the amount. He only offered to get a manager after I paid and knowing I was upset. I told him not to bother and left. Where I come from, knowingly charging more for services than what was provided is theft.
Hi Brian- We're sorry you didn't have a good experience with us and we didn't communicate properly with you. Most jobs are priced based on industry standard labor guides. This is done so when we quote you a price it doesn't change based on how much actual time it took to perform the repair or service. Sometimes experienced technicians with specialty tools and years of experience can do jobs faster than the labor guide. Sometimes things take longer due to problems, rust, damage, broken parts, lack of experience, etc... When things take longer we absorb those costs. Nearly every repair shop in our industry prices jobs this way. In most cases it works out better for customers.
